✈️ Insider Tips for Jamaica

• Falmouth vs. Ocho Rios matters a lot. From Falmouth, Dunn’s River Falls is an hour away each way — budget 5–6 hours minimum for that excursion. From Ocho Rios it’s 10 minutes. Check which port your ship docks at before booking.
• Wear water shoes at Dunn’s River. The rocks are slippery. Aqua shoes can be rented on-site but bring your own if possible for a better fit.
• Guides at Dunn’s River expect a tip. The certified guides who lead you up the falls work for tips — budget $5–10 USD per person.
• Try jerk chicken from a roadside stand. Authentic Jamaican jerk (especially from Scotchie’s near Ocho Rios) is phenomenally good and costs just a few USD. Far better than anything at the pier.
